Catedral de La Laguna, Tenerife, Canarias. Esp...(Versión en Castellano)

Many times we think that we have to find exceptional treasures make long journeys, which involve cross oceans and continents. But sometimes some of them are closer than we think.

As adoption “lagunero” would like to share with you something that I find the distance of a walk from my home. If I told you not knowing where I live, which at the distance of a short walk along the sidewalks of my city I can go to a place where I can find Greek and Roman coins, Chinese porcelain collection. Where you think I dwell. Surely think that in London, Paris, … in a large city where great museums.

However, in San Agustin Street, in the number 23 is hosting a flagship institution, la Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Tenerife, an institution founded on February 15, 1777, at the time of Age the Enlightenment or Age of Reason spreading across Europe. That building, which belonged to the Society of Jesus (Jesuit Order) has been based for over two hundred years. Property having being granted by King Charles III.
Generally known for its outreach of culture and knowledge through various activities ranging from seminars, exhibitions, conferences. A real engine of culture and thought.

However for the visitor to San Cristobal de La Laguna, world heritage city, it is one of the points that his agenda would organize your visit to the city. But you just visit the building itself is worth .

Tours are free and the hours are from 10:00 to 13:00 in the morning and in the afternoon from 4:00 pm to 8:00  pm disposing of collections numimastics where we can admire Greek and Roman coins, and coins of Muslim Spain and the Christian kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula at the time of the Reconquista. Another collection that is curious is the wood samples, consisting mainly of wood from the Canary Islands. Aside from these collections are engraving, porcelain, furniture, scientific instruments, whose contemplation provides a link with the people who donated these items or purchased on behalf of  The Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Tenerife La Real Sociedad Económica del País.
See these collections is an opportunity to give accounts that desire, human desire to improve their condition has no limit and is able to find ways to meet them despite physical or legal limitations that might occur. Since even the famous Spanish Inquisition authorized this institution may have in possession forbidden books

Serve as a reminder that sometimes treasures are closer than we think and it is not necessary to travel great distances to run into them in the most unexpected place.
